Frederick Wicks

Born and raised on a farm on Long Island, N.Y. and having chosen the charming and idyllic lifestyle of Aiken, I feel blessed to have spent most of my life in two of the best locations in the country.

After attending Lehigh Univ. and Hofstra Univ., graduating with a degree in Finance, I spent my career on Wall St. with Smith Barney as a broker specializing in futures hedging.  Together with my wife Sherri, I have been a resident of Aiken since 2001.  Our son Dan and his wife, Donna, have blessed us with three wonderful granddaughters, Kaitlyn, Samantha and Lessie.  Sherri and I are quite active in our community of Cedar Creek and enjoy our participation in the many social and charitable activities "in town" and within Cedar Creek.  Hosting such annual party events as Super Bowl, Derby Day, a Sock Hop, etc. gives us special pleasure.  Another constant joy has been traveling the country and the world with our countless friends and neighbors at Cedar Creek and beyond.

Through the golf community in which we live, I was asked to join the staff representing that community in 2004 which acquainted me with a new career in real estate.  I very quickly found that I truly enjoyed having a part in introducing and acclimating others to Aiken.  For a small town  with big city amenities, Aiken offers enough cultural, dining, medical and other amenities to satisfy this former New Yorker and most everyone else I have met.  Borrowing a term from my former life, my association with Meybohm Real Estate and my partnership with K.T. Ruthven is one that I am extremely "bullish" about.  How can one resist Aiken - a perfect blend of the simplicity and beauty of the past that has an eye fixed on the progress necessary to compete and grow with the 21st century?

A common saying around here is "If you're lucky enough to live in Aiken, you're lucky enough."  I truly believe Aiken is the best place in the world to live.  I grew up in New Jersey and when I left for college my parents headed south and built a home in Cedar Creek.  While I was trying to decide where to settle down during my senior year of college, I came for a visit during spring break...and I was hooked.  Aiken does that to a great many folks!

I started my career in real estate in 2003. I hold several industry designations and have been very active with the Aiken Association of Realtors and the South Carolina Association of Realtors. I am extremely pleased to have been awarded the "Best of the Best Real Estate Agent" in 2006 by the readers of the Aiken Standard.  In addition, my peers honored me in 2011 by voting me "Realtor of the Year".  In 2018 I was selected as one of ten "Young Professionals to Follow" in Aiken.

Outside of real estate, my wife Martha and I are very involved in the community.  In a town like Aiken, it is easy to have fun and get involved in a wide variety of activities.

Fred and I have known each other for many years and work very well together;  we feel that this partnership affords our clients the coverage they deserve regardless of whatever personal commitments either of us might have.  We both have different skill sets which compliment each other well.
